The Binche Lace Course by Annick Staes gives you a superb grounding in the techniques and grounds used in Binche Lace.
The first few pages show you how to make the attractive Small and Large Snowflake ground. Then there are patterns that include the use of these grounds. Other grounds in this book are Snowflake with cloth-work, Binche Ball, Snowflake with eyelet, Valencienne Ground, Paris Ground and how to connect these in a larger piece of lace.
The majority of her patterns use a 60/2 Egyptian Cotton but a couple use a finer thread 100/2 Egyptian cotton.

Annick studied Lace making from the age of 12 at the Brugge Lace school, where her work was considered to be exceptional. she teaches teaches in Europe, the UK and the United States of America.
