Description
Flanders Lace Course No 1 by Annick Staes is the first book in a series of three introducing you to the delights of Flanders Lace.
The first 5 pages show you the basic stitches used in Flanders and Binche lace. There are nine patterns carefully graded each one introducing a new stitch or how to combine stitches to make some traditional patterns. The last 3 pages have the prickings for the patterns.
Many of the traditional patterns have names that go back a long way. Such as airplane, Priests Hats and Lantern
The patterns use from 19 to 25 pairs of bobbins, duchess or Bruge bobbins a the best ones to use, but you can work with East Midlands Bobbins.
The thread used is Egyptian cotton 60/2
A great book for someone wanting to teach themselves Flanders Lace.
