Much research has gone in to her early life in a large family. She was the second child in a family of seven born in 1821. How she started her own business as a lace dealer and eventually gained the Royal Warrant to supply Lace to the Royal family.
Honiton is a Lace than normally uses a fine thread 100 to 185 counts. A different style bobbin is used. It is a fully illustrated book that ends with a few lovely Honiton pattern.
A delightful book for those interested in the history of Honiton Lace both commercial and social.
